Important Information for Festival Food Vendors
From the Camden County Department of Health & Human Services...
To operate as a mobile vendor in Camden County, your first step is to review N.J.A.C. 8:24 (Chapter 24 Rule): Sanitation in Retail Food Establishments and other resources from NJDOH’s Retail Food program website to ensure you know what is required to successfully sell (or give away) food to the public in New Jersey. This will also help you determine if you should apply to be a Cottage Food Operator – Home Baker with the NJ Department of Health instead of a Mobile Vendor with Camden County Department of Health.
All mobile vendors who operate in Camden County (this includes pre-packaged foods, free samples, and retail food business vending on the street near their storefront/restaurant) are required to submit a Mobile Vendor application, pay a fee based on the complexity of their operation, and be inspected by Camden County. Review and complete the Camden County Department of Health Mobile Vendor application and bring your operation to the Camden County Department of Health between 8:30am and 9:30am Monday through Friday to submit your application and be inspected.
We have reciprocity with the following jurisdictions and can accept mobile approvals from Atlantic County, Gloucester County, Salem County, Burlington County, Cumberland County, and Vineland City. Be sure to reach out to the municipalities where you plan to vend to ensure that you are compliant with their requirements, as well. Please keep in mind that this is a summary of the requirements to get you started. Be sure to review the rules and applications thoroughly to be prepared for inspection.
Please note: If you are a county/out of state vendor who only operates in Camden County for this event we can accommodate on-site inspections the morning of the event (as long as all paperwork is submitted, reviewed, and approved in advance.)
Inspections/Compliance Checks:
All food vendors must adhere to the Camden County Health Department guidelines.
